A reputed maxillofacial surgeon has done tooth extraction for you but that is not the end of the road. There is lot more involved when it comes to taking care of the oral hygiene after tooth extraction. You will have to follow the instructions for faster healing. Even if you feel you are fine after next dayof the extraction, you are prohibited to do any fun activities and follow the guidelines.

Take a Nap and Rest

This is the best time you can relax without any interruption. Sleep, eat and repeat – this should be your cycle. Take time off work and stay away from everyday hustle-bustle. Keep your mind relaxed but use pillows to keep the head up for preventing swelling and bleeding.

Eat Your Fav Healthy Dishes

Since the body at this time is going through a healing process, eat foods that are full of vitamin C and A. Though you should eat soft food now but there are plenty of options like yogurt, smoothie bowls, fruit juices and more containing essential nutrients. Stop eating anything too hot for two to three days for preventing blood clot dislodging.

Watch TV

This is the right time you can watch TV or finish up your favorite Netflix bucket list. But make sure you do not gorge into the usual movie snacks like popcorn. Instead you can have eggs, low-fat cheese and more. While watching take a break and rinse your mouth using prescribed mouthwash or saltwater.

Listen Music

Is there new music released and you did not get time to hear? This is the time. Play the list and enjoy the time. But avoid doing your hook up dance steps with music.

Read Books

Get a recommended booklist or buy the best seller of the year. This is the time when you are spending a true break time. Indulge yourself in the book written by your favorite writer.

Ice for Swelling Control

Soon after the process is done apply an ice bag on the area over the cheek. Apply for 10 to 20 minutes at a stretch and then give a 20-minute break.

No Suction

For the very first 24 hours avoid everything that causes suction in the mouth. It involves using a straw, rinsing or drinking forcefully or smoking. This suction force will cause blood clot dislodging inside the mouth and blood will come out. This dislodging causes dry socket.

No Alcohol

Say no to alcohol or any alcoholic mouthwash or beverage for the first 24 hours.

Keep Mouth Clean

You can floss and brush but do not brush the operated area as the area from where the tooth is pulled is very sensitive until not healed completely. Do not split forcefully but cleaning the mouth will keep you from infection.
