Various Tooth Extraction Aftercare Tips
Teeth are the hardest substance of our body and an essential part of our mouth. We can chew food and digest it very easily. But when the teeth start to decay, different associated issues pop up. Most of us cannot tolerate the pain and decide to remove the decayed tooth most of the time. Dentists perform oral surgery for wisdom teeth removal. We must go for tooth extraction before unbearable pain hits us.
The Healing Tips
We remove our teeth for several reasons such as infection, cavity, ache, broken tooth and pain because of wisdom teeth. When dentists successfully remove the tooth, we should follow a few rules to avoid further complications and pain. The followings are:
Taking Medicines
After the removal, if your doctor suggests medicines, then you should take them as per the prescription. You can avoid some painkillers if there is no need for them.
Eating Soft Food
When a dentist removes your wisdom or decayed tooth, you may face some difficulty in chewing food for a while. Therefore, it is recommended to eat soft food that requires lesser chewing. Better to go for soup and juice.
Cover the Area With Ice
You can use a pack of ice to the specific area for reducing the pain. You should use the ice pack for at least two days.
Use of Straw
You must drink any liquid by using a straw to avoid the swelling area for a few days. You should avoid drinking liquid directly from a glass or bottle.
Avoid Smoking
You should not smoke for a few days as it may affect the specific part.
Usage of Pillow
You should use an extra pillow under your head for preventing clotting while sleeping.
Brushing
While brushing, you should massage the swelling part very carefully and slowly. You should not rub it very hard because it may lead to bleeding gum problems and can cause severe pain.
Bleeding
After surgery, if you face bleeding, you should keep gauze over the swelling area for approx 30 minutes. You can also use a moistened tea bag over the area because the tannic acid contracts the bleeding vessels in order to set the blood clot.
Call Your Doctor
When you face various problems such as excessive bleeding, fever, continuous pain for a few days, you should call your doctor for further advice.
If you want to remove your wisdom teeth or any other teeth for other reasons make sure to opt for the oral surgery and tooth extraction aftercare tips and follow the advice of the dentist as possible.
